The Dallas Independent School District is the second largest school district in Texas after Houston ISD and the twelfth largest in the nation with over 160,000 students. It serves the cities of Dallas, Addison, Balch Springs, Carrollton, Desoto, Duncanville, Ferris, Garland, Grand Prairie, Hutchins, Lancaster, Mesquite, Seagoville, and Wilmer.

Denton Independent School District serves the cities and developments of Denton, Bartonville, Cross Roads, Double Oak, Lantana, Corinth, Oak Point, Copper Canyon, Shady Shores, Providence, Savannah, Robson Ranch, Paloma Creek, Cross Oaks Ranch.

Desoto Independent School District serves the cities of Desoto, Glenn Heights, and Ovilla.

Duncanville Independent School District is located on the southwest side of the city of Dallas and serves Duncanville and portions of Desoto, Cedar Hill, and Dallas.

The Fort Worth Independent School District is the fifth largest school district in Texas with nearly 80,000 students. Fort Worth ISD serves the cities of Fort Worth, Benbrook, Westover Hills, Westworth Village, Haltom City, Forest Hills, and some unincorporated portions of Tarrant County.

Frisco Independent School District is located in the Far North Dallas area and serves the city of Frisco and portions of Plano, Little Elm, and McKinney.

Grand Prairie Independent School District is located between Dallas and Fort Worth and serves the Dallas County portion of Grand Prairie.

Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District is located to the north of the mid-cities between Dallas and Fort Worth. It serves most of Grapevine and Colleyville and portions of Hurst and Euless.

Highland Park Independent School District is a top-rated school district, receiving “Exemplary” designations in eleven of the last thirteen years. It serves more than six thousand students in the cities of Highland Park and University Park.

  1. Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD

Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District is located to the west side of the mid-cities, just east of Fort Worth, and serves most of Hurst, Euless, and Bedford, and a portion of Fort Worth.

The Irving Independent School District is located in the center of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and serves most of the city of Irving and part of the city of Grand Prairie.

Keller Independent School District serves the city of Keller and portions of the cities of Colleyville, Fort Worth, Haltom City, Hurst, North Richland Hills, Southlake, Watauga, and Westlake.

Kennedale Independent School District is located to the east of Fort Worth in the mid-cities and serves the city of Kennedale and portions of Fort Worth and Arlington.

Lewisville Independent School District serves Argyle, Carrollton, Copper Canyon, Double Oak, Flower Mound, Frisco, Grapevine, Highland Village, Hebron, Lewisville, Plano and The Colony.

McKinney Independent School District is located in the Far North Dallas area. Student/teacher ratios in the district range from 12:1 to 19:1. McKinney ISD serves the cities of McKinney, New Hope and portions of Allen, Fairview, and Lowry Crossing.

Mesquite Independent School District is located on the east side of Dallas and serves the cities of Mesquite, Garland, Balch Springs, Dallas, and Sunnyvale.

The Northwest Independent School District is located to the northwest of Fort Worth and serves all or a portion of the cities of Justin, Roanoke, Trophy Club, Northlake, Marshall Creek, Corral City, Flower Mound, Aurora, Rhome, Pecan Acres, Newark, New Fairview, Haslet, Avondale, Westlake, Southlake, Keller, and Fort Worth.

The Plano Independent School District is the largest school district in Texas with over 50,000 students. The average elementary school’s student/teacher ratio is 18:1. The Plano ISD serves the city of Plano and portions of Dallas, Richardson, Parker, Allen, and Murphy.

Richardson Independent School District is located on the north side of Dallas and serves portions of Richardson, Garland, and Dallas.
